WORK EXPERIENCE WEEK - TERM 1, WEEK 11 (06/04 - 09/04/21) - THERE WILL BE NO YEAR 10 CLASSES DURING THIS WEEK.
Since Term 3 of last year we have been talking about Work Experience and how important it is to your PLP. All Year 10 students would have received a Work Experience Form and WHS Checklist on the first day back or in their first PLP lesson.
Some of you received Work Experience forms last year as you had some places in mind that you wanted to approach for Work Experience. If this was you, excellent, your next step is to ensure that your Work Experience Form and WHS Checklist are returned as soon as possible to your PLP teacher.
If you have not organised your Work Experience, this is your number one (#1) priority - This must be organised and all forms returned by the end of Week 7 (Please write this date at the top of your form - Friday 13 March, 2020)
It is up to YOU to organise your Work Experience - not your parents or carers and not your teachers, however, all of these people can help you to find places to contact. If you are having trouble, please talk to your PLP teacher or Mrs Rowe so that they can assist you.
Once you have decided on where you want to do your Work Experience, phone the work place or go in and ask about Work Experience opportunities. Before you call or go in make sure you know what you are going to say to give yourself the best opportunity of getting Work Experience. Practice at home with your parents/caregivers or your friends.
**Remember businesses often get asked to be Work Experience Providers and sometimes they can only take one or a few students each year. There are 200+ Urrbrae Year 10 students and many other schools whose Year 10's are also looking for Work Experience, so make sure you have a back up plan - try to have a couple of places you can call in case your first choice cannot accommodate you.

The Work Experience Booklets - students will need to give the Purple WPL Employers booklet to their Work Experience Provider.
The Green booklet is for parents and the Yellow booklet is for students. These booklets provide information about Workplace rights and responsibilities. If you are not sure what to say when you call or go into a business to ask for Work Experience, check out these simple 'Cold Calling Scripts', they give ideas of what to say and how to say it.
